January 21 - 2nd Annual Telemark Festival at Beech Mountain Resort. This gathering of local and regional skiers will convene to share good company along with technique and equipment insight. Telemark skiing, also known as "free heel skiing", involves removing (or detaching) the heel bindings from a pair of skis so the toe is the only part of the boot bound to the ski. This technique is also used for cross-country skiing.
There will be a "Boot Demo" for those interested in trying telemark skiing and Roots Rideshop will offer discounts on all apparel and merchandise for telemark skiiers.
