On the Slopes at Sugar Mountain 1-2-12

Today at Sugar Mountain Ski Resort - Skiing on 9 slopes with 4 lifts and a base of 8-32 inches with man made powder and frozen granular. Tubing is open on one lane and ice skating is open for regular session times. Snowmaking will continue throughout the day and evening.

Located in Blowing Rock NC Appalachian Ski Mountain opened in December of 1968 with 3 slopes and simple rope tows. Today Appalachian has expanded to twelve slopes including two terrain parks serviced by one double chairlift, two quad chairlifts, two conveyor lifts (new in 2010) and one handle-pull lift. Located in the Village of Sugar Mountain on the outskirts of Banner Elk NC Sugar Mountain is the largest NC ski area with twenty slopes and trails spread over 115 skiable acres for all levels of skiing and snowboarding. Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is just north of Asheville in the outskirts of Mars Hill NC.
