Today's Skiing at Cataloochee

Dec 19 Catoloochee Ski Area, Maggie Valley NC. Cataloochee is planning to open today at 8:30am but will make a decision as to our opening time based on the road conditions coming to the ski area. Persons planning on skiing at 8:30am here at the area should call by 7:30am for an update. Once again, due to the tremendous amount of snowfall that has occurred and continues to occur from this storm, we will not open the ski area until we feel the road to and from the ski area is passable and safe for our customers. Skiing available on 100% of the mountain on 16 out of 16 slopes with three aerial lifts and two conveyor lifts operating on a base of 36-60” and a powder surface. http://cataloochee.com/

Located in Blowing Rock NC Appalachian Ski Mountain opened in December of 1968 with 3 slopes and simple rope tows. Today Appalachian has expanded to twelve slopes including two terrain parks serviced by one double chairlift, two quad chairlifts, two conveyor lifts (new in 2010) and one handle-pull lift. Located in the Village of Sugar Mountain on the outskirts of Banner Elk NC Sugar Mountain is the largest NC ski area with twenty slopes and trails spread over 115 skiable acres for all levels of skiing and snowboarding. Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is just north of Asheville in the outskirts of Mars Hill NC.
