Dec19, 4PM-6PM, BEECH MOUNTAIN NC Tree Lighting with Visit from Santa - Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce. Santa will visit Fred's Gazebo for fun and picture taking, 4-5 p.m. Afterward, there will be the Christmas tree lighting at the Chamber office, 5-6 p.m. Hot cocoa, cider, and cookies will be served. http://www.beechmtn.com

Located in Blowing Rock NC Appalachian Ski Mountain opened in December of 1968 with 3 slopes and simple rope tows. Today Appalachian has expanded to twelve slopes including two terrain parks serviced by one double chairlift, two quad chairlifts, two conveyor lifts (new in 2010) and one handle-pull lift. Located in the Village of Sugar Mountain on the outskirts of Banner Elk NC Sugar Mountain is the largest NC ski area with twenty slopes and trails spread over 115 skiable acres for all levels of skiing and snowboarding.
