WOW - Women on Wednesdays at Cataloochee Ski Area

January 9 - WOW (Women on Wednesdays) at Cataloochee. For women who learn better with female instructors, Women on Wednesdays, or WOW as its known, is a six session program, starting on January 9 for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and level. Each session starts at 10 AM with a two hour clinic hosted by Cataloochee's  most advanced women instructors Participants may practice afterwards until 4:30 PM.
 
The cost is $125 (or $175, including ski or snowboard rentals). If you have your own equipment and season pass, it's $65. Enrollment closes on January 2. You can also put your children (age 4-12) into a Cat Trackers program at the same time. Cat Trackers are offered 10am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-4pm. Special price for the Cat Trackers morning session during the WOW program is $150 over the five weeks.

On the Slopes at Cataloochee Ski Area 3--8-12

Today at Cataloochee Ski Area - skiing 12 slopes with 3 lifts on a base of 20 - 52 inches groomed surface.  Cataloochee will operate 1 PM - 10 PM, Monday through Friday and 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday, through the end of planned daily operations for the season on Sunday, March 25. Duringthe late season operating schedule, twilgiht and night ski Monday through Friday and day ski only on Saturdays and Sundays.

The BIGBIGBIG One Day Season Pass Sale this weekend at Cataloochee

March 4  The BIGBIGBIG One Day Season Pass Sale  at Cataloochee Ski Resort. All season passes will be on sale for the lowest price of this year and next year for this one day only. Ski for the rest of the season and next on the pass you purchase on March 4. Pass sale will be from 8:30am – 4:30pm only and you can purchase in person, over the phone with a credit card or online!

Today at Cataloochee Ski Area: Skiing 100% with 16 trails and 5 lifts on a base of  30 - 63 inches packed powder surface. Snowmaking continues with colder temperatures remaining. Be prepared with gloves and goggles.

Tube World is open  for all sessions: 10, 12, 2, and 4 PM

Free Beginner Lessons with Cataloochee Rentals

.Non-Holiday Monday through Thursdays get free beginner lessons at Cataloochee Ski Area with your equipment rentals, Monday through Thursday. Cataloochee offers this introduction to skiing or snowboarding lesson FREE when you rent your equipment from the area. These one and a half hour sessions are offered non-holiday Monday through Thursdays throughout the season and lesson times are 9:30am, 11:00am, 1:30pm, 3:30pm, 5pm and 7pm. You need to be at the area and signed up for your lesson at least 30 minutes prior to the time your lesson begins.

On the Slopes at Cataloochee Ski Area 1-12-12

Today at Cataloochee Ski Area - skiing on 14 out of 16 trails, with a base of 10"-42" and a groomed surface.

Tube World, located in Maggie Valley, four miles from the ski area, will open from 4pm until 10pm with sessions running at 4, 6, and 8pm. Cost for tubing is $25 and you must be 42" tall to ride alone, there is no two person tubing at Tube World. Tubing is on a first come first served basis and some session will sell out, should the session you wish to tube be sold out when you arrive, you may purchase a session for later in the day.

NASTAR is available at Cataloochee Ski Area

NASTAR is a public racing program that provides recreational racers with an opportunity to compare their ability to the fastest member of the US Ski Team (USST). As the largest recreational ski race program in the world, NASTAR was developed by SKI Magazine in 1968 and is available at over 120 of the nation's premier resorts.

This fun, competitive and easily accessible racing program allows racers of all ages and abilities a means to compare themselves with one another regardless of when and where they race. Get a link and more information about

Cataloochee open for day skiing

Cataloochee Ski Area will be skiing on 50 percent of the mountain on eight out of 16 trails with three aerial lifts and one conveyor lift operating. The  base is 15”-45” with a machine made surface. Snowmaking continues along with some natural snow. Day skiing only, 9 AM - 4:30 PM.

Cataloochee open on Friday for Day Skiing

Cataloochee Ski Area will be open for day skiing on Dec 9 from 9 AM - 4:40 PM.  With snowmaking continuing through the night there should be 8 trails open with skiing on 6 slopes: Intermediate Lower Omigosh serviced by the Omigosh Double Chairlift, Beginner's Over Easy, Beginners Easy Way and Beginners Rabbit Hill serviced by the Easy Way Triple Chairlift and Beginners Luck Learning Area and Wolf Creek Hollow Teaching Area on a base of 14”-35” and a machine worked surface.

There will be day skiing only from 9am until 4:30pm, with an afternoon half day rate also available. Day ski only will continue through Monday, December 12 and day, twilight and night skiing  will begin on Tuesday, December 13.

Cataloochee Continues Day Skiing

Cataloochee Ski Area will be skiing today on 3 slopes: Intermediate Lower Omigosh serviced by the Omigosh Double Chairlift and  Beginners Easy Way and Beginners Rabbit Hill serviced by the Easy Way Triple Chairlift.

The base is 8”-25” with a machine worked surface. There will not be any terrain features out on Tuesday and
one session of skiing is offered, day skiing only from 9 AM until 4:30 PM, with an afternoon half day rate also available.

Please note the changes in the upcoming week schedule: DAY SKI only from 9 AM until 4:30 PM through Friday of this coming week.

Cataloochee Ski Schedule

On Dec 5 Cataloochee Ski Area will be skiing on 6 slopes from 9:30 AM to 4: 30 PM  -  Intermediate Lower Omigosh serviced by the Omigosh Double Chairlift and  Beginners Over Easy, Beginners Upper Over Easy, Beginners Easy Way and Beginners Rabbit Hill serviced by the Easy Way Triple Chairlift and Beginner’s Luck Learning Area.

The base is 8”-28” and a machine worked surface.  Please note that some of the terrain features will be available for you to ride on Upper Over Easy, right down from the Snack Shack, accessed by the Easy Way Triple Chairlift.  The upcoming week schedule and will DAY SKI only from 9 AM until 4:30 PM through Friday of this coming week.

Cataloochee reaches capacity with fundraiser

Cataloochee Ski Area reached its capacity on Sunday, December 4 due to overwhelming response to Can-U-Ski Day.  No further traffic will be allowed on the mountain on Sunday.  The Slopes will reopen on Monday, December 5 at 9 AM.  Cataloochee appreciates the generous support!

Cataloochee Ski Mountain Open today

Cataloochee Ski Mountain Open today from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM skiing on OVER 50% of the mountain on NINE out of 16 trails with two aerial lifts operating:
Intermediate Rock Island Run, Advance Alley Cat and Intermediate Lower Omigosh, serviced by the Rock Island Run Quad Chairlift, Beginners Over Easy,. Beginners Upper Over Easy, Beginners Easy Way and Beginners Rabbit Hill serviced by the Easy Way Triple Chairlift, Beginner’s Luck Learning Area and the Wolf Creek Hollow Teaching area  on a base of 15”-30” and a machine worked surface.  Please note that some of our terrain features will be available for you to ride Upper Over Easy, right down from the Snack Shack, accessed by the Easy Way Triple Chairlift

Cataloochee Ski Area hosts Food and Coat Drive

December 4 is the 10th Annual Can-U-Ski Food and Coat Drive for Haywood Christian Ministries.  10 cans of food (or more!) and/or a warm winter coat in good condition will get you a FREE LIFT TICKET from 8:30am-4:30pm on Sunday, December 4 only.  It’s a $58 value.  Celebrate the season by helping give back to the  community by sharing with others.  It’s a great way to start the holidays and have some fun with your friends at Cataloochee as well.

Cataloochee Plans re-opening for Dec 3

Cataloochee Ski Area plans reopen for daily operations on Saturday, December 3 at 8:30 AM. As usual, opening will depend upon weather conditions, currently predicted to be cooler as the week progresses.

Cataloochee not open today

Colder temperatures have not returned as anticipated so Cataloochee will remain closed on Wednesday, November 23 and will make a decision as to operations on Thanksgiving Day based on the ability to make snow and on temperatures on Wednesday evening.

Cataloochee Proposed Schedule for Thanksgiving Week

Cataloochee plans the following operating schedule for this week, but snowmaking and weather conditions will determine the actual schedule. Final plans will be announced after 5 PM on Tuesday, 11-22.  Cataloochee will not operate on Monday, November 21 and November 22 but plans to reopen for day skiing only on Wednesday, November 23 from 9 AM until 4:30 PM with weekday lift tickets in effect.

Cataloochee Ski Update - 11-18-11

Cataloochee is skiing today and tomorrow from 8:30 - 4:30 on a base of 15 - 30 inches with 4 trails and 2 lifts open. Snow is being made.  Lift tickets will be $25 and regular rental and ski school rates will apply
