Sugar Mountain, Cataloochee, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Beech Mountain, Wolf Ridge and Sapphire Valley all offer great skiing this Weekend

Only a few weeks are left in the NC Ski Season and the conditions are great for a weekend of fun skiing, snowboarding tubing or ice skating in the North Carolina Mountains. Natural snowfall is predicted for a beautiful "winter wonderland" all weekend.

As of March 1/2013:

Appalachian Ski Mountain is open with 12 slopes and 6 lifts on a base of 52 - 92 inches. Ice skating is open. BEST CONDITIONS OF THE SEASON. SPY After School Shred Session today. Recess Wreck Less Tail Jam on 3/2.

Beech Mountain Ski Resort is skiing 15 slopes with 5 lifts on a base of 42 - 82 inches. Ice skating and tubing are open. This Saturday, March 2, Ryan Ward will play at the Beech Tree Bar & Grille. This Abingdon, VA local will be playing 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM. There is no cover and all ages are welcome.

Cataloochee Ski Area will be skiing from the top of the mountain down, including Wild Cat Glade for day skiing only, on 16 trails with 3 aerial lifts and one conveyor lift on a base of 69 -89 inches. Tube World is open on Friday from 4 PM - 10 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 10 Am - 10 PM - this is the LAST WEEKEND of the season for Tube World. The BIGBIGBIG One Day Season Pass Sale is Sunday, March 3.

Sapphire Valley Ski Area - is skiing on both slopes with 2 lifts and a base of 20 - 46 inches. Call 828.743.7663 for a live report.

Sugar Mountain Ski Resort is open skiing on 20 slopes with 7 lifts on a base of 41 - 91 inches. Ice skating is open. Tubing is open for all sessions. 2014 Spyder Sample Sale continues through the end of the ski season. BOSS Hawg's live Bluegrass music plays again this Saturday in the Base Lodge between 4 PM and 6 PM. NASTAR at noon this Saturday and Sunday on Big Red.

Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is open with 9 slopes and 2 lifts on a base of 22 - 31 inches. Ice skating is open. Snow Day Special today - $15 lift tickets, $9 ski rentals, $15 snowboard rentals for students and teachers. It is a great day to Ski The Wolf.

NC Ski and Slope Update for 12/1/12

Appalachian Ski Mountain: OPEN 9 AM - 10 PM with day skiing only $5 to celebrath ASM's 50th anniversary.

Beech Mountain Ski Resort: OPEN 9 AM - 10 PM with 5 slopes, 4 lifts on a base of 14-30 inches.

Cataloochee Ski Area: OPEN 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM with 7 slopes, 2 lifts on a base of 12-36 inches.

The Sapphire Valley Ski Area: Opening Opening day for 2012-13 season currently set for December 15.

Sugar Mountain Ski Resort: OPEN for day and night skiing with 5 slopes, 2 lifts on a base of 13-40 inches. Ice Skating is OPEN ofr session from 10 AM - 6 PM. Snow Tubing is OPEN with sessions from 12 PM - 6 PM.

Wolf Ridge Ski Resort: 2012-13 opening day not yet announced.

NC Ski and Slope Update for 11/30/12

Appalachian Ski Mountain: OPENING DAY for 2012-13 season 9 AM - 10 PM .

Beech Mountain Ski Resort: OPENING DAY day for 2012-13 season with 5 slopes, 4 lifts on a base of 14-30 inches.9 AM - 10 PM.

Cataloochee Ski Area: OPEN with 7 slopes, 2 lifts on a base of 14-38 inches. 9 AM - 4:30 PM.

The Sapphire Valley Ski Area: Opening Opening day for 2012-13 season currently set for December 15.

Appalachian Ski Mountain Opens Today

November 30 - Appalachian Ski Mountain (ASM) opens for the 2012-13 season with the first 100 people at the ticket window getting a FREE ticket. The ASM Ski Slopes will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9 AM to 10 PM. and Monday for day skiing.

Ice skating will be open at noon for 2 hours sessions through 7 PM.

The Alpine Ski Shop will be open during skiing hours over the weekend, and from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM daily next week.

Located in Blowing Rock NC Appalachian Ski Mountain opened in December of 1968 with 3 slopes and simple rope tows. Today Appalachian has expanded to twelve slopes including two terrain parks serviced by one double chairlift, two quad chairlifts, two conveyor lifts (new in 2010) and one handle-pull lift. Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is just north of Asheville in the outskirts of Mars Hill NC.
