Located in Maggie Valley NC Cataloochee is North Carolina's First Ski Area, and usually the first NC Ski Area to open for the season. Located in Blowing Rock NC Appalachian Ski Mountain opened in December of 1968 with 3 slopes and simple rope tows. Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is just north of Asheville in the outskirts of Mars Hill NC.
