February 22 - 24 Beech Mountain's Retro 80s Weekend Have a great weekend at Beech Mountain's trip back to the 1980s. Friday night will feature live music at 9 PM at Jackalope’s View.

Get dressed up in your 80s gear for a big air competition Saturday afternoon on the ski slopes, followed by an apparel contest. Then the Beech Tree Bar & Grille will host 80’z Enuff at 7 PM on Saturday.

Located in Blowing Rock NC Appalachian Ski Mountain opened in December of 1968 with 3 slopes and simple rope tows. Today Appalachian has expanded to twelve slopes including two terrain parks serviced by one double chairlift, two quad chairlifts, two conveyor lifts (new in 2010) and one handle-pull lift. Located in the Village of Sugar Mountain on the outskirts of Banner Elk NC Sugar Mountain is the largest NC ski area with twenty slopes and trails spread over 115 skiable acres for all levels of skiing and snowboarding. There are seven lifts - including one triple, four doubles and two surface lifts. The 700 foot long tubing lanes are serviced by a Magic Carpet lift, all located on the Sugar Mountain golf course. Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is just north of Asheville in the outskirts of Mars Hill NC.
