Beech Mountain Re-opens Dec 9

Thanks to cooler than predicted temperatures and 3 inches of natural snow, Beech Mountain will re-open for day skiing Friday, Dec 9 from 9 AM - 4:30 PM.

Let it Snow!

Snowmaking in progress at Cataloochee Ski Area, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Beech Mountain Ski Resort and Sugar Mountain Resort. 1-3 inches of natural snow has also fallen in the last 24 hours. Snow making will continue through the week will all four Ski facilities anticipating opening on Dec 3, 2011.

Appalachian Ski Mountain scheduled to open November 18

Weather permitting, Appalachian Ski Mountain will open for the 2011-12 season on November 18 and kick-off its 50th year of operation. FREE SKI TICKETS to the first 100 guests at the ticket window. Additional specials will be offered on opening day.

Cataloochee SKi Area opens for 2011-2012 November 12!

Breaking news from Cataloochee Ski Area, 11-11-11 5:30 PM:

Thanks to Mother Nature for bringing us the cold temperatures! Also, a BIG HIP HIP HOORAY to all of our very hard working staff! We are excited to announce that we will be open Nov. 12th, so come on out and make the first turns of our 51st season.

Special $25 lift ticket, with regular rental rates. Don't forget midweek season passes are valid this weekend!

Hours: Saturday & Sunday 8:30AM-4:30PM, Closed for the week.

Runs: Lower Omigosh, Easy Way, Rabbit Hill, Beginners Luck

Lifts: Easy Way, Omigosh to Mid-Station

Snowmaking tonight will determine on what slopes will open tomorrow.

We will be closed Monday-Friday, and reopen Saturday Nov. 19th with our early season schedule. Make sure to check the website for our Early Season Hours Schedule, and for any opening or closing changes.

Located in Blowing Rock NC Appalachian Ski Mountain opened in December of 1968 with 3 slopes and simple rope tows. Today Appalachian has expanded to twelve slopes including two terrain parks serviced by one double chairlift, two quad chairlifts, two conveyor lifts (new in 2010) and one handle-pull lift. Located in the Village of Sugar Mountain on the outskirts of Banner Elk NC Sugar Mountain is the largest NC ski area with twenty slopes and trails spread over 115 skiable acres for all levels of skiing and snowboarding. There are seven lifts - including one triple, four doubles and two surface lifts. The 700 foot long tubing lanes are serviced by a Magic Carpet lift, all located on the Sugar Mountain golf course. Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is just north of Asheville in the outskirts of Mars Hill NC.
