Wolf Ridge Ski Resort makes changes

You can ski the Wolf this year with new trails, improvements and fun. In the off-season the folks at Wolf Ridge Ski Resort were busy with: the widening of Breakaway Ski through tunnel run on top of mountain; an addition of two ski out trails off of the Breakaway slope; a new Ski School training area and magic carpet at bottom of Breakaway slope; new magic carpet and 3rd Ski School training area at Lower Lodge; the expansion of Terrain Park at the base of Lower Streak slope and Broadway; and the widening of the connector slope from Upper Lodge ski area to main slopes and Lower Lodge. Located in Blowing Rock NC Appalachian Ski Mountain opened in December of 1968 with 3 slopes and simple rope tows. Today Appalachian has expanded to twelve slopes including two terrain parks serviced by one double chairlift, two quad chairlifts, two conveyor lifts (new in 2010) and one handle-pull lift. The base lodge covers 46,000 square feet, is smoke free, and has complimentary WIFI in the restaurant. The Blue Ridge Ski Mountain welcomes skiers of all skills and styles, including snowboarders! The Sapphire Valley Ski Area & Frozen Falls Tube Park is an integral part of the 5,700 acre four-season resort at Sapphire Valley NC. The Ski Area's average elevation is 3400 feet and consists of The Sapphire Streamliner", a 1600 foot main run with a vertical drop of 200 feet featuring a state-of-the-art quad lift.
