Sugar Mountain Skiing Update

January 25, 2016 - Sugar Mountain NC Ski Report: Ski 16 slopes with 5 lifts on a base of 44 to 96 inches, packed man made power and natural snow. The Tubing park is open with sessions at 10 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM, 4 PM, 6 PM and 8 PM. Ice skating is open with sessions at 10 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM, 4 PM and 6 PM. Ice Skating will be closed for the 8 PM session on 1/25 for a private group.

News from Sugar Mountain: Sugar’s new Summit Express lift, a Doppelmayr high speed, detachable, six passenger chairlift is complete. Refurbishing and relocating the former Summit #1 lift (renamed to “GW” lift) to the bottom of Gunther’s Way is finished. The Summit #2 lift (renamed to “Little Gray” lift) has been shortened to the top of Easy Street Extension.

Appalachian Ski Mountain - OPEN Skiing 12 slopes with 6 lifts on a base of 40 - 62 inches. Snowmaking in progress. 1/24- GNU/Libtech Shred for the Cup Big Air; 1/30 - ASEF Boarder / Skier X

Beech Mountain Ski Resort is OPEN Skiing 12 slopes with 5 lifts on a base of 27 - 74 inches. 1/23-24 - So-Gnar Snowboard Camp Tour; 1/31-2/8 College Week at Beech Mountain Ski Resort

Cataloochee Ski Area is OPEN Skiing 18 slopes with 5 lifts on a base of 46-78 inches with snowmaking in progress . 1/21-22 Military Appreciation Days

Sapphire Valley Ski Area is OPEN Skiing both slopes on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and - Monday on a Base of 48 - 74 inches.

Sugar Mountain Ski Resort is OPEN Skiing 11 slopes with 5 lifts on a base of 44 - 96 inches. 1/8-9 EDGE of the WORLD Snowboard Demo Days; 1/30 The Johnson Brothers LIVE MUSIC.

Located in Blowing Rock NC Appalachian Ski Mountain opened in December of 1968 with 3 slopes and simple rope tows. Today Appalachian has expanded to twelve slopes including two terrain parks serviced by one double chairlift, two quad chairlifts, two conveyor lifts (new in 2010) and one handle-pull lift. The base lodge covers 46,000 square feet, is smoke free, and has complimentary WIFI in the restaurant. The Blue Ridge Ski Mountain welcomes skiers of all skills and styles, including snowboarders! Located in the Village of Sugar Mountain on the outskirts of Banner Elk NC Sugar Mountain is the largest NC ski area with twenty slopes and trails spread over 115 skiable acres for all levels of skiing and snowboarding. There are seven lifts - including one triple, four doubles and two surface lifts. The 700 foot long tubing lanes are serviced by a Magic Carpet lift, all located on the Sugar Mountain golf course. Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is just north of Asheville in the outskirts of Mars Hill NC. The Slopes of Wolf Ridge have over 82 acres of ski terrain with 23 Exciting Ski Slopes, 10 Green Family Runs, 3 Black Diamond and 10 Blue Runs . The Ski Area's average elevation is 3400 feet and consists of The Sapphire Streamliner", a 1600 foot main run with a vertical drop of 200 feet featuring a state-of-the-art quad lift. The Frozen Falls Tube Park, is a 500-foot multi-lane snow tube hill with a vertical drop of 70 feet.
