Last Day to Ski NC for the 2012-13 Season

March 31, 2013 - Sugar Mountain Ski Slopes are open for one last day of skiing for the 2012-13 Season until 4:30 PM. Closing day is always packed with fun at Sugar Mountain. By mid-afternoon on Easter Sunday the sounds of BOSS Hawg's live Bluegrass will be playing from the deck. The outdoor grill will be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers while the annual ceremonial snow burning officially concludes Sugar's 2012-2013 winter season.

Ski lift tickets are 25% off and the 2014 Spyder Sample Sale continues.

Enjoy skiing or boarding on 15 slopes with 5 lifts on a base of 26 - 71 inches.

Last 2 days to Ski NC

Cataloochee Ski Mountain will be open through March 30 and Sugar Mountain Resort Ski Slopes until March 31.  This week's last minute winter weather and snow flurries have allowed for a terrific end to the 2012-13 NC Ski Season.

Both Cataloochee and Sugar Mountain offer  excellent conditions, dozens of trails with exceptional bases for end of the season skiing and boarding.

Cataloochee Extends Closing date to March 30

Cataloochee Ski Area’s closing date for the 2012/13 season has been moved up to Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the end of the day skiing session. This marks Cataloochee’s 149th day of skiing and riding for a record breaking number of days skied for the area. Ski  on 16 trails with 3 lifts on a base of 43 - 63 inches.

Late season ticket pricing will remain in effect. Regular rental rates apply. Cataloochee will continue offering the “One Run, We’ll Refund” until the end of the season. Guests unhappy with conditions will receive a full refund after one run within a reasonable time period. Refunds will not be given after that.

Also for those of you who have season passes to other areas, there will be a $10 off a Cataloochee lift ticket, anytime all year long.

Near Perfect Ski Conditions at Sugar Mountain

Cataloochee Rates for Final Days

Cataloochee is now on late season pricing for lift tickets for the final days of skiing for 2012-13.   $29 for adults and $23 for juniors.  These ticket prices are good throughout the day.  Skiing is open from 9 AM until 4:30 PM.

Sugar Mountain and Cataloochee Ski Area are still open through this week

Cataloochee Ski Area will be skiing on 14 trails with 3  lifts on a base of 40 - 60 inches with NEW NATURAL SNOW. Late season rates in effect along with late season schedules: day skiing only from 9 AM until 4:30 PM Monday through Friday,  and 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Saturday and Sunday until the end of the season on MARCH 29..  Tube World is CLOSED for the season.

Sugar Mountain Ski Resort is
skiing on 19 slopes with 4 lifts on a base of 25 - 70 inches. Winter weather ha returned and  is predicted to remain through mid week. Six to ten inches of snow is expected through Wednesday. Expect Sugar's slopes to stay open at least through Wednesday, March 27th, maybe longerMarch Madness in effect: 25% off lift ticket, lesson and rental rates EVERYDAY! Tubing is open for sessions from 10 AM - 8 PM. Ice Skating is closed for the season.  2014 Spyder Sample Sale continues through the end of the ski season.

Appalachian Ski Mountain now CLOSED for the 2012-13 Season

Appalachian Ski Mountain. ended the season on a high note this year, with some of the best conditions for closing day in over a decade. The annual Winter Meltdown Games over the weekend provided an exciting and fun-filled conclusion to to the season.

ASM has scheduled opening day for the 2013-14 season on Friday, November 15.

Beech Mountain Ski Resort now CLOSED for the 2012-13 Season

March 24, 2013 - Beech Mountain Ski Slopes are now CLOSED after yesterday's conclusion to a great winter 2012-13 season. With plenty of snow and perfect ski conditions the last month of the season ended with good times and happy memories for all.

On March 30 Beech Mountain will hold its annual Easter Celebration and Egg Hunt at Buckeye Recreation Center, marking the transition from winter to spring events at Beech.

The event begins at  9AM and is FREE and Family-friendly. The Egg Hunt is for 12 and under. Spring is in the air and the Easter Bunny is back after the annual appearance on the slopes. Hop on down to the Buckeye Recreation Center to enjoy games, a visit from the Easter Bunny, the Bunny Hop, a bunny petting zoo, and an Easter Egg Hunt. There is sure to be something for everyone in your family to enjoy. There will be a light breakfast included in the celebration for a donation of your choice.

Last Weekend to Ski Beech

Beech Mountain Resort is open from 9 AM to 430 PM today and tomorrow.   Saturday, March 23rd is the  final day of skiing for the 2012-13 season and will include games, music and other activities.
Additionally, receive one free youth(12 and under) ticket with the purchase of one paid adult ticket.  Customers can also enjoy 25% off of rental equipment.

The Mountain has 4" of fresh natural snow and a base of 32 - 76 inches skiing 14 trails with 4 lifts.

Cataloochee Offers Day Skiing

Cataloochee Ski Area will be skiing from the top of the mountain down, on 14 trails with 2 aerial lifts and one conveyor lift operating on a base of 46"-66" and a loose granular surface. Only one session of skiing is offered, day skiing from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Half day rates are not available.

Cataloochee now offers a “One Run, We’ll Refund” now until the end of the season. Guests unhappy with conditions will receive a full refund after one run, within a reasonable time period. Refunds will not be given after that. St Patrick's Day Jam Session at Appalachian SKi Mountain

March 17 - St Paddy's Day at ASM.  A fun filled day of park shredding and a shot at winning some great prizes from Grenade and the Alpine Ski Shop.


All ages and abilities are encouraged to sign up for this Jam Session, which will be held in the Appaljack Terrain Park on 4 select features. A short jam session (10-15 minutes) will take place on each feature. The Alpine Ski Shop crew will be on site to award prizes for best trick on each individual feature for both skiers and snowboarders.
Registration is FREE and will be held in the Alpine Ski Shop from 10-Noon. The event will begin around 1 PM.

Sugar Mountain Easter Egg Hunt this Weekend

This Sunday, March 17th, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt.  Kids 12 and under are welcome to participate. The event is free with a valid lift/slope pass. The hunt begins at 9 AM and includes lots of prizes, even a 2013-14 Sugar Mountain Resort season pass.

Sugar Mountain has fresh natural snowfall and is skiing 15 Slopes with 5 lifts on a base of 35 - 86 inches. March Madness continues with a 25% discount every day of the week.

Wolf Ridge Ski Resort begins weekend-only Schedule

March 11 - Wolf Ridge Ski Resort will be closed Monday through Friday of this week. The Resort will reopen for a day session on Saturday, March 16th with an end-of-season $20 lift ticket special (weather permitting).

Snow Tubing - The Original Tube Run on Puncheon Fork Road will be continuing the $15 two hour session special and be open regular hours this week, weather permitting. Hours are 9 AM - 4:30 PM Monday, 9 AM - 10 PM Tuesday-Thursday. Call 828-689-3322 or 828-778-6115 to confirm.

Catalooochee Ski Area Begins Late Season Rates and Schedule this Week

March 11 - Cataloochee offers late season pricing for lift tickets for weekdays and weekends. Weekday lift ticket pricing for Monday through Friday is $29 for adults and $23 for juniors. Saturday and Sunday ticket pricing is $50 for adults and $37 for juniors. These ticket prices are good thoughout the day and no half day ticket pricing will be offered.

As of March 11, Cataloochee begins the late season operating schedule of day skiing only from 9 AM until 4:30 PM Monday through Friday,  and 8:30 AM-4:30 PM Saturday and Sunday through the end of the season. Head for the slopes and enjoy the last of the 2012-13 NC Ski Season.

Snowshoe Guided Tours on Sugar Mountain

Snowshoe guided tours are a great way to stay fit during the winter months. Sugar Mountain Resort snowshoe tours are offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3 PM and Saturday at 9 AM and 3 PM through the end of the season. Based on instructor availability, additional tours will be given on demand for groups of 4 to 15. The program includes a 1 hour tour and snowshoe rentals.

Adult tours are for ages 12 and up. Children's tours are ages 8-11. Sign up at least 15 minutes prior to your tour time in the Ski/Snowboard School Building. Tours are $20 which includes snowshoe rental.

Appalachian Ski Mountain Hosts Wounded Warrior Project

March 9 - The Appalachian Ski Patrol will be hosting a Ski / Snowboard Event for members of the Wounded Warrior Project. Along with assistance and support from Local and Regional EMS, Fire/Rescue and Law Enforcement Officers, Appalachian Ski Mountain. will provide a day of skiing and boarding for our Nations Heroes who have fought for the country's freedom.

The ASM Patrol has several members who served in Iraq and Afghanistan who are currently on military leave. Throughout the Southern Division and the National Ski Patrol, area Patrols have shown support of the WWP by hosting similar events.

This Event will start with a tribute to these servicemen and women,  a flag presentation by the ASU ROTC Mountaineer Battalion Cadets. ASM Patrol will provide volunteers to assist each member with a day of skiing/boarding, and will provide lunch to those members participating.

With the aid and support of local businesses and Individuals, ASM Patrol will be providing breakfast and dinner over the course of this weekend, in addition to making a donation to the WWP from funds raised and donations collected over the course of this years ski season.

STZ After School Session Today at Appalachian Ski Mountain

March 7 at 6 PM -  STZ After School Session at Appalachian Ski Mountain.  The STZ crew hosts an open jam format event, open to all ages and abilities.  There will be prizes of all shapes and sizes with the top skier and the top snowboarder walking away with $50 CASH.

The event will have an 80’s theme with the best in dress getting a STZ prize pack. The standout female at the event will be walking away with a STZ prize pack as well.

The Crew will also be grilling up hot dogs for all the competitors. The Event will be held on a fresh NEW par setup.  Prize packs may include shirts, custom pocket t’s, crew necks, sunglasses, stickers, and even a custom STZ hoodie.

March Madness at Sugar Mountain means 25% off lift tickets, lessons and rental rates EVERYDAY. Another winter storm has blown in and a beautiful winter weekend is ahead on the NC ski slopes. 20 slopes are open with 6 lifts on a base of 41 - 91 inches.

Cataloochee Ski Season Passes are at their lowest price of the year

March 5 - Season Passes are at their lowest price of the year at Cataloochee Ski Area. They are available to purchase online now, over the phone or in person.  Season rentals for next season are also available for order. New this season will be a reduced deposit fee of $125 that will be held without charging until skis or boards are returned in the spring. Also, should your child outgrow their boots during the season, they will  be upsized  at no extra charge.

Cataloochee will be
skiing from the top of the mountain down, including Wild Cat Glade for day skiing only, on 16 trails with 3 aerial lifts and one conveyor lift operating on a base of 69"-89" and a machine worked surface. There will be three sessions of skiing, day skiing from 9 AM - 4:30 PM, twilight skiing from 1 PM until 10 PM and night skiing from 6 PM until 10 PM, with a morning or afternoon half day rate also available.

Tube World located in Maggie Valley, across from Ghost Town in the Sky, four miles from the ski area will is now closed for the 2012/2013 tubing season

Last Fresh Friday of the season at Appalachian Ski Mountain

March 8 - Appalachian Ski Mountain Fresh Friday Never Summer Photo Jam.  On the final Fresh Friday Jam ASM partners with Never Summer Photo for a great day of fun.  Never Summer will be on site with photographers, and will post the choice shots from the session on their Facebook Page.

Overall winners of the photo contest have a chance at being chosen for a full page Never Summer ad in Snowboarder Magazine!

As always, the ATP crew will be working hard to churn out a new, fun setup for all abilities to shred.

March 4 - Beginning Monday, March 4, Beech Mountain Resort will be offering weekday pricing seven days a week, through the remainder of the season. Conditions are great for the best skiing of the season.

Starting Monday March 4th, the Ski Resort will offer 1 free youth ticket (12 and under) with the purchase of one full price adult ticket. Sugar Mountain, Cataloochee, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Beech Mountain, Wolf Ridge and Sapphire Valley all offer great skiing this Weekend

Only a few weeks are left in the NC Ski Season and the conditions are great for a weekend of fun skiing, snowboarding tubing or ice skating in the North Carolina Mountains. Natural snowfall is predicted for a beautiful "winter wonderland" all weekend.

As of March 1/2013:

Appalachian Ski Mountain is open with 12 slopes and 6 lifts on a base of 52 - 92 inches. Ice skating is open.  BEST CONDITIONS OF THE SEASON. SPY After School Shred Session today.  Recess Wreck Less Tail Jam on 3/2.

Beech Mountain Ski Resort is skiing 15 slopes with 5 lifts on a base of 42 - 82 inches. Ice skating and tubing are open. This Saturday, March 2, Ryan Ward will play at the Beech Tree Bar & Grille. This Abingdon, VA local will be playing 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM. There is no cover and all ages are welcome.

Cataloochee Ski Area will be skiing from the top of the mountain down, including Wild Cat Glade for day skiing only, on 16 trails with 3 aerial lifts and one conveyor lift on a base of 69 -89 inches.
